August 7, 2010 Montrose Blueberry Festival Day 2 (Part 1)

It looks like this has been another very very successful Blueberry Festival!  Thousands of people ate blueberries in a variety of forms – from pizza topping to blueberry buckle with blueberry ice cream.  And we’re not even going to talk about all the other festival food that was available!  This was the scene between noon and one o’clock today.

Chesapeake gas and oil company sponsored the fresh blueberry booth.

This, by the way, is the old books-on-wheels van.

I had fun taking pictures, and this new program – Windows Live Writer – lets me post things much quicker.  I could never have done this in the Typepad editor.  But, wait…there’s another whole bunch of pictures coming up.

August 1, 2010 Sorcerer's Apprentice

Good morning...from the farm.

Last night we took a break, and went in to Montrose to the theater to see The Sorcerer's Apprentice.  I know the critics were less than favorable.  I don't pay any attention to them anyway.  I really enjoyed the movie.  Of course, I don't go to the movies for blood and gore, blatant sex, or to be shocked and appalled.  I go to be entertained, and to get a few laughs out of the experience.  Hey, I loved Alice in Wonderland.  What can I say?  I will say the last few minutes were a bit slow.  In this day and age most people would have figured out what to do a lot quicker.  This is Disney.  I can cut them a few breaks.  If you don't mind sorcery and magic in general, you will be entertained and the special effects are pretty good too.  Try it, you'll like it.
